Are Pellu ingredients “natural”?
Yes they are natural, which we define as derived from plants, water and minerals. Of course, to make a cosmetic, these substances must undergo various levels of processing. Plant parts (e.g. leaf, flower, bark) are harvested and purified to make oils, extracts and powders. For example: plant oils selected for exceptional omega fatty acid content to moisturize skin; fruit extracts packed with antioxidants; and premium botanicals that help skin appear calm, soothed and smooth. These natural origin ingredients are blended together into smooth creams, liquids and gels with excellent skin benefits. We use bespoke natural fragrance (an essential oil blend) and an Ecocert-certified preservative system. (Note – in the USA, there is no legal or regulatory definition of “natural” for cosmetics.)

Are Pellu products GMO-free?
Yes, Pellu products are GMO-free. They do not contain any “genetically modified organisms” (GMOs). We don’t yet know the full implications of GMOs for human health and the environment. (Pellu products are also cruelty free and free from parabens, SLS, SLES, dehydrating alcohols, benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, propylene glycol, nanoparticles, peroxides, PEG, silicon, synthetic perfumes and artificial colors.)

What is Pellu “FREE-FROM”?
Pellu products are FREE FROM parabens, detergents SLS or SLES, benzyl alcohol, dehydrating alcohols, propylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, peroxides, PEG, silicon, GMO, palm oil, synthetic perfumes, and artificial colors.
We love animals and all Pellu products are cruelty free and vegetarian (most are vegan).
For our planet (and especially orangutans) we are palm oil-free.
For pregnant and nursing women we are vitamin A-free. We avoid endocrine disruptors and controversial ingredients.
For people with allergies we avoid including nuts, grains and dairy ingredients, but please always check the ingredient list with your allergist. Our fragrance (a certified natural essential oil blend) is kept to low levels for sensitive skin – max 0.2% for face and 0.5% for body.

Do Pellu products contain preservative?
Yes. For your protection, Pellu products contain a small amount of Ecocert-approved preservative to prevent bacteria and mold growth. The preservative names are sodium benzoate (in most Pellu products) and potassium sorbate (added when there is high water content, e.g. toner). Our carefully selected tubes, caps, and airless bottles reduce exposure to air, fingers and other sources of contamination – this means we can keep preservative to a minimum for those products. With the glass pots, please use a clean spatula – we can provide you with spatulas on request. If you prefer to use your fingers, please ensure they are clean.

Does Pellu test ingredients or finished products on animals?
Absolutely not. We have never tested on animals and never will. Animal testing is cruel and unnecessary. Human volunteers in Australia undergo patch tests for us – they have a choice, animals do not.

CLEANSER: start with a pea size amount for your face. Add more for your neck and décolletage. Gently massage the cleanser into your skin to remove dirt from your pores and to stimulate blood circulation. Rinse with plenty of water. If you find that a lot of makeup still comes off in the toner stage, increase the amount of cleanser or simply add the konjac sponge to your daily ritual.


Are Pellu products suitable for my sensitive skin?
Pellu ingredients are gentle and soothing, and many customers with sensitive skin find that it helps them. However, the answer to this question depends on what you react to. Please check the list of ingredients before ordering. As with any new skincare product, please also test a small amount on the underside of your forearm and/or under your jawline, wait 24 hours, and only use the product if there is no reaction.
Our fragrance (a certified natural essential oil blend) is kept to low levels – max 0.2% for face and 0.5% for body – but if you are sensitive to fragrance you may still react.

I am allergic to tree nuts – is Pellu safe for me?
Pellu Brilliant Night Treatment (stickered edition) contains shea butter, a tree nut. No other product contains tree nuts, but most Pellu products contain coconut-derived ingredients.
The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology notes that “Coconut is not a botanical nut; it is classified as a fruit, even though the Food and Drug Administration recognizes coconut as a tree nut. While allergic reactions to coconut have been documented, most people who are allergic to tree nuts can safely eat coconut. If you are allergic to tree nuts, talk to your allergist before adding coconut to your diet.”

Help! I’ve had an allergic reaction. What should I do?
If you suffer any kind of allergic reaction immediately wash the affected area in plenty of cold water and DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT AGAIN. See your health practitioner if symptoms persist. Signs of an allergic skin reaction include a burning sensation, redness, swelling, heat, rash, bumpiness, or itchiness.

Are Pellu products safe for use during pregnancy or nursing?
Congratulations, how lovely! Having a baby is incredibly exciting. It can also be quite a worrying time. The decision about what eat, drink or put on your body is very personal. Some Moms only use water and jojoba oil on their skin. Other Moms continue with their usual diet and beauty products and don’t worry too much. We can’t advise you on what your decision should be. Just know that we respect your choice completely.

    Here are the facts to help you.
  • Pellu Vibrant Konjac Sponge is not absorbed into your skin. It is safe for pregnancy and nursing.
  • Pellu products are formulated for general wellbeing and safety.
  • We do not use vitamin A (amazing for skin but linked with fetal abnormalities).
  • We avoid known endocrine disruptors.
  • Pellu products contain a few ingredients that have not been tested in pregnancy/nursing. Without data, it is hard to know if they are safe.
  • Due to water content, most Pellu products contain preservatives (sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate).

How often should I use the products and in what order?
For optimal results we recommend using the products twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening:

Step 1, PURIFY. Start with your Pellu cleanser to gently remove impurities from your skin. If you have a Pellu konjac sponge, put the cleanser directly onto the sponge and combine your cleansing with gentle exfoliation.

Step 2, BALANCE. Pellu toner completes the cleansing process and restores vital balance to your skin. Unlike many other brands, Pellu’s toner matches the natural acidity of women’s skin.

Step 3, GLOW. Complete your Pellu ritual with moisturizer and eye cream for healthy radiance. Your skin will glow.

How much product should I use each time?

Good question! It depends on your skin – everyone’s skin is different.

CLEANSER: start with a pea size amount for your face. Add more for your neck and décolletage. Gently massage the cleanser into your skin to remove dirt from your pores and to stimulate blood circulation. Rinse with plenty of water. If you are removing makeup, apply the cleanser to a cloth or sponge, and massage, rinse, repeat.

TONER: use enough that your face, neck and décolletage feel fresh and alive.

MOISTURIZER: start with a pea size amount for your face. Add more for your neck and décolletage. If you find that the cream does not soak into your skin or feels greasy, reduce the amount and make sure you apply your moisturizer straight after the toner, while your skin is still damp.

EYE CREAM: start with a tiny lentil size amount and dot around the eye area (avoiding your eyes). Gently pat into the skin. As with the moisturizer, if you find that the eye cream does not soak into your skin or feels greasy, reduce the amount. A little goes a long way!

Can I remove my makeup with Pellu cleanser/toner?
Yes, your Pellu cleanser and toner can remove foundation and most makeup (but not eye makeup). Simply apply the cleanser to your face cloth or sponge, thoroughly massage, then rinse and repeat. Toner completes the cleansing process so don’t forget that step. Note: For eye makeup, we recommend that you use an ophthalmologist approved product.

When will I start to notice a difference in my skin?
Everyone’s skin is different. Some people see and feel results within days, while others notice results after a few weeks or months of consistent Pellu use. Customers with pre-existing skin problems, such as excessive oiliness or dry flaky patches, tend to see results faster than customers who already have good skin. The health of your skin should continue to improve by following the regimen on an ongoing basis. If you experience an allergic reaction discontinue use immediately.

Do Pellu products have an Expiration date?
Yes. We recommend using your Pellu products by the expiration date listed on the product container. The expiry date is printed on the bottom of all cartons, underneath the pots and bottles, and on the crimp of the tubes. Using your product within this time period will ensure the freshness and highest quality of your product, so that you receive its full benefits.

How long will my konjac sponge last?
Pellu sponges are made from the root of the konjac plant. They are a natural, organic product and will degrade over time. If looked after, they can last for up to 1 month. To ensure your sponge has a prolonged and healthy life, please thoroughly rinse it in clean water, squeeze out excess water, and hang it by the string in a well-ventilated area after each use. Once your sponge starts to fall apart, or if you start to notice brown or black spots, discard immediately and order a new sponge for fresh, konjac happiness.

Do Pellu moisturizers contain SPF sunscreen?

No, we don’t include SPF sunscreen in Pellu moisturizers at the moment.

Why not? Because we don’t want to compromise Pellu's luxurious feel or glowing effect on your skin. We think you can protect your skin most effectively by adding a separate sunscreen when required. (For example, on some days you might not go out in the sun.)

Natural sunscreens (which use titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to reflect the sun’s rays) can clog pores and make your skin look pale.

Although we don’t include SPF sunscreen, we believe that being sun smart is incredibly important for your health and beauty. Sun damage (especially sunburn) is the biggest cause of aging skin. It even has its own scientific term – photoaging. Sun damage is linked with wrinkles, brown pigmentation spots, and cancer.

Pellu products are packed with antioxidants, which can reduce free radical damage caused by sun. Applying your own favorite sunscreen after you’ve applied Pellu products (i.e. on top) provides the best form of protection. How do I look after my skin in the sun?

Sun damage is the biggest cause of aging skin. It even has its own scientific term – photoaging. Sun damage is linked with wrinkles, brown pigmentation spots, and cancer.

Pellu products are packed with antioxidants, which can reduce free radical damage caused by sun.

However, Pellu products do not contain sunscreen.

Therefore, we recommend that you use your usual SPF sunscreen after applying Pellu so that the sunscreen is on top.

Always be “sun smart” – cover up, stay out of the sun during high UV periods of the day, and wear hats and sunglasses to protect your face and eye area.

troubleshoot Pellu packaging

When I press the pump on my eye cream or moisturizer, no product comes out.

It’s understandable that you’re concerned, but please don’t unscrew the top. It’s not broken. Pellu Brilliant Night Cream is packaged in an airless bottle. Pellu Lucent Eye Cream and Pellu Bold Beauty Milk are packaged in airless tubes. Airless technology uses a vacuum and is designed to keep the delicate, natural ingredients fresh and free from contamination.

If your product doesn’t come out at first, please turn your bottle or tube upside down and gently tap. Turn back upright and prime the pump by pumping it a few times. Product will dispense. If you find that your airless pump dispenses too much cream for your skin to absorb easily, simply push the pump halfway down to dispense less cream. A little goes a long way.

Why isn’t the toner bottle squeezable?

Pellu toner bottles are designed for you to “shake, tip and tap". The toner’s natural plant and mineral ingredients tend to settle at the bottom, so tipping the bottle over to dispense onto a cotton pad ensures that all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed together. We want the optimal goodness of the toner on your skin, each and every time.


When I squeeze my tube of cleanser, no product comes out.

Please unscrew the cap and remove the protective foil from the tube opening. The foil shows that it has not been tampered with and it is designed to keep your product fresh. Once you’ve removed the foil seal, re-screw the cap and enjoy the fresh experience of your cleanser.


Can I recycle Pellu packaging?

We have used recyclable materials wherever possible. The exception is our tubes. The best cosmetic tube technology uses 5 layers with EVOH in the middle to prevent air moving through the plastic. Unfortunately, anything with mixed material is not recyclable.
